Michael Ring TD

Michael Ring TD is Minister of State, at the Department of Transport, Tourism & Sport.

Party: Fine Gael

Occupation: Full-time Public Representative
Education: Vocational School, Westport.

Michael Ring has been a Dáil Deputy since 1994 when he was elected in a By-Election.

Formerly an Auctioneer and winner of All-Ireland Vocational Schools football medal with Mayo.

During the Coalition Government, December 1994-June 1997, Michael was a member of the following committees:

  • Member of the Joint Services Committee
  • Joint Committee on Women's Rights
  • Select Committee on Enterprise and Economic Strategy
  • He was also a member of the British-Irish Inter-Parliamentary Body.

In 1997, with the change of Government, Michael was made the Shadow Spokesperson on Agriculture- Livestock Breeding and Horticulture.

In June 2000, Michael was made Junior Spokesperson on Health and Children.

Michael served as Spokesperson on Social and Family Affairs June 2002-October 2004.

From June 2002, Member of the Joint and Select Committee on Social and Family Affairs

In 1995 he was nominated as the Back Bencher of the year- Sunday Independent

Michael was voted Best Performer in the Dáil 2001- Sunday 0AWestport
